L’histoire d’Obōro.

The story of Obōro.

Welcome to the world of Obōro Kyoto, a brand that nods to the kimonos of Kyoto while drawing inspiration from traditional techniques to create unique pieces that combine oversize and elegance.

Our brand was born from the love for Japanese culture, in particular for kimonos, the traditional clothing that is so emblematic of Japan. We wanted to create a brand that honors this tradition while modernizing it for a contemporary audience.

Our inspiration comes from the boro sewing technique, an ancient Japanese technique which involves playing with the textures of fabrics in the form of patchwork. This technique creates unique, abstract patterns that add an artistic dimension to each piece. We used this technique to create clothing that is both modern and respectful of Japanese traditions.

We also chose to play with proportions by creating oversized pieces that are comfortable and easy to wear, while still being elegant and sophisticated. We believe fashion shouldn't sacrifice comfort for beauty, and our pieces are designed so you can feel comfortable on any occasion.

We are proud to say that all of our pieces are made from high quality materials, and that we work with French and Japanese artisans to create unique pieces that are handcrafted. We believe quality and craftsmanship are important, and we want to offer our customers pieces they will cherish for years to come.

We are also proud to say that our brand is environmentally friendly. We use sustainable (Portugal origin T-shirt in 100% organic cotton) and recyclable (exclusive collections are made with real kimono and traditional fabric) materials whenever possible, and we are constantly looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint.

If you're looking for stylish, unique pieces that celebrate Japanese culture, then Obōro Kyoto is the brand for you. We pride ourselves on offering pieces that combine tradition and modernity, and we are confident that you will love our designs as much as we do them.

JB, creator and designer of Obōro Kyoto.
